I had a weird dream last night. What happened was that Mic Jagger, Batman, Captain Hook, and I were fighing in a war, but we were captured by Hitler. They put us POW's in a room right next to Hitler for some reason so we woke Hitler up in the middle of the night to ask him what color the guard's uniforms were (brown) and then we made out own uniforms out of bedsheets. It was odd nobody recognized us when we tried to escape, because Batman had his cowl and Cap'n Hook had his hook and weird hat and everything. The only one of us that was recognized was Mic Jagger because he was distracting the gate guards with his wicked guitar skills. Then while they were distracted Batman dropped down from a ledge and KO'd them both. It was cool. Then we stole Hitler's space ship and rode to a floating space station, where Captain Hook turned out to be Ben Franklin. Then after a while I ran for President so I borrowed a pair of Ben Franklin's glasses and was almost instantly elected president of the United States. Or at least I think I was, because I woke up just then.

The beginning of the Firebox series that I did. Basically I went into a dark room with a couple of flashlights and did really long exposure shots while I waved the lights around. There's two more that I won't post on here for the sake of space here and here. I like this that I posted the best.

Funny how both the 3rd in the lightbox and the firebox series are my favorites. Anyway, this is the other half of those pictures I took.

Amanda thinks Gremlins are causing all her computer problems. They didn't take this picture though, I did. Notice the contrast between urban and rural. I don't really like this one, but everyone I've talked to has loved it, strangely...

These are rocks. On a wall! I especially liked making the matte on this one, it's not really a matte, more of a border, really...
Wow, I can't belive I spent 5 hours doing this photo. But I think it was five hours well spent. The objects involved: a magnet building set, a lite-brite, a R2-D2 Chess Set piece (he's a pawn ^_^), a rubik's cube, my sister's hand (it's in there, I swear), a piece of yellow paper, and my camera. And a hat. Can't forget the hat.

By the way, THANK YOU SO MUCH AMANDA! She really didn't want to help me all that much but she came through anyway.

This would be... a stop sign. But it's a cool stop sign! Hah! It's um... I changed my mind. It's not really all that cool.

Guess what! It's cars and a library dropbox seen from a peephole in the metal pole of a "no parking" sign! Really spur of the moment while waiting for the Kennedy's at Territory Days.

Morris is a good subject! Sometimes! He's really not a good subject 'cause he squirms a lot and it's annoying! But these photos turned out pretty well I think. The one on the bottom's my favorite.

These three are definitely not the best photos I've ever taken. I'm kind of sick at looking at them right now, I thought they'd come out a lot better than they did, but it's ok. I was experimenting. I think I'm going to go out tomorrow and figure out how to do the shots right. Enjoy for now, I'll post more of these kind of thing if I figure out how to get the amazing telethingy to work for photography. I just want to sleep for a week right now. Sorry, I totally forgot about this until just now. But y'all still get them! Hah! Oh, and also I didn't have any new pictures, none of the ones I've taken recently have come out well. So they're computer wallpapers that I've made instead.

This I came up with while in the car coming home from work. Particularly those little things on the bottom left. Then I posted it on dA and someone started a debate about it, go to the fullview page if you want to see it.

It's an old strange attractor intended for some or the other purpose. It's really simple. I was tired. Simplicity!

I'm going to quote verbatim the description from the dA page. Mainly because I was really tired and it's kinda funny because of it :D

Yeah, I was doodling around in Photoshop again. I knew I wanted something swooshy planety spherey but I couldn't figure it out. Turns out, I still can't. But anyway, if anyone has a good idea for this, let me know. Weird thing, the word "FIFA" kept running through my mind as I was doing this, it really reminds me of their logo. Which I had never seen before. But I kept thinking "FIFA FIFA FIFA!" only really loud, I don't know how to shout an acronym online. Maybe "fifa fifa fifa!" 'cause it's just opposite or something... random babble random babble.

I took a photography excursion a while back. I came out with some pretty good pictures. I liked this one, but it wasn't stark enough, so I enhanced it so it's pretty much purely black and white. I think it turned out well.

Here's a picture of some wal-mart shopping carts. W00T. Whatever. I entered it in a contest on dA, I don't think it will win though because all the other stuff is amazing.

These rocks are silent. For now.

Uh oh! I noticed this morning that this didn't publish when I published it Thursday night! Quite uncool! You guys get two sets of photos today, lucky people ;)

This was just a spur of the moment photo, I didn't take much time to compose it, it's just a tree in front of the south gym of CSCS, it's not all that good either ::points to lens flare at the top that he couldn't remove:: Bah.

Trumpets are one of the coolest instruments known to mankind. This is a trumpet. Therefore this is one of the coolest instruments known to mankind.

I'm not even sure what to post about this one, it's another snapshot. All three of these were taken within 10 minutes of each other, if you could critique my photos about anything I'd be happy. I took these with the school's camera, a really nice Nikon DSLR. Yeah... sorry this is so late, I think I've finally got the posting schedule figured out to the point where I can keep a schedule, I might have to cut out Wednesday though. What I need to do is get the post completely ready by the night before and then post it then or in the morning on the day I said it'd be up. Yeah, sounds good!

So this is a typical reaction for when I point my camera at our dog. She gave me this funny expression. It's actually the face she makes right before she sneezes, so right after that, she sneezed. When I looked at this for the first time I laughed. HARD. It captures our dog's attitude towards human life perfectly ^_^

I was, to say the least, very fortunate to get this shot. The deer around our house are really really cautious of anything that they don't know what it is, so they're always paranoid. This one was really noble, and it posed for me for probably 15 shots in different positions before it decided to run away!

Now this one wasn't so good. I tried to capture the perspective of looking along a deck railing, didn't turn out too well because of the background. I could do some major photoshop work on it to replace the background with something else (probably something deserty) but I think I'll leave it as it is (IE I don't have time)

I wonder if ninjas floss? I mean, it seems like they'd be rather busy killing people to take the time to floss. Or sleep, for that matter. They'd have to take their masks off too, so everyone who saw them eating or flossing would have to be killed to preserve their secret identity. Maybe they just eat in the shadows and stuff. And then if you see a hamburger floating around in the air you should look away real quick 'cause there's a ninja eating there. And if you don't watch out, he's gonna kill you faster than you can blink. They've very stealthy. In the time it took you to read this post, a ninja could have killed you. And then run to Canada and back. They're just that quick. Hmm... I wonder if a ninja could find how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop, because they're very disciplined and they could probably pull it off.

Now for the completely related note. I'm going to start trying to post here regularly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. And have a quality post each time. And... then start a photoblog too where I'll post a photo on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sounds good? Sounds good to me too.

Dating?

We had a discussion about dating on the bus heading to California. It was really interesting and made me think. Before now, I haven't really formed a solid I-will-stick-to-this type opinion about dating, but I've thought about it now. Here goes.

I won't date. Not that I don't date, I won't date. Dating destroys friendships, because high schoolers aren't mature to be friends after being "romantically involved". Also, if you expect for a relationship to be romantic, it won't happen. That brings us to my next point, which is that I will try to stay away from being alone with a girl with no one else around, just to avoid temptation, I know that things happen and people lose their self-control sometimes and I for one want to be pure for my wife when I get married. If a situation like that does arise though, I pray that God gives me the strength to resist temptation and to flee from evil. God will not allow me to be tempted beyond what I can bear, and I trust Him for guidance in any situation. All that said, I believe there will be a day (probably in college sometime) when I and the people I'm around are mature enough to date, and at that point I feel it will be ok for me to date, but I also feel that that will not happen in high school.

Please pray for me to have the strength to stick to this conviction, and to know when it's alright to date. Also, for the strength to resist and the courage to say no.

We just got back from the band competition at Biola, I'm using the computer in the hotel. Let's just say that we didn't lose, but we didn't with as much as the other band which won. :P They were really good though, they definitely deserved to win, and the small band that won the small band award was also really really good. We're going to be at Disneyland for a long long time tomorrow, and the phone dropped out of my pants pocket today, so I won't have it tonight T_T.

The hotel we're staying at is really nice. It's the Hilton Garden Inn, not to be confused with the regular Hilton which is just down the street. It's still really nice. Our showerhead has like five settings on it, the one it was on when I got in the first time was "death massage" and it did almost kill me. My knee is doing a lot better since I last wrote, and right now it's feeling pretty good, if a little stiff.

Portable Storage

You know, a little incident I had today reminded me how much data we have just lying around. I was going to copy Albatross18 (I'm TheRealCaffeine in-game) on to my sister's computer and was going to put it on my flash drive and take it over, but after deleting most of my files that I didn't need off of it I still didn't have enough room. In the middle of taking portable firefox off, I saw a CD-RW lying on my desk. Now my flash drive only has 256 megs, but CD-RW's are huge, most have 800 megabytes! It's amazing! I stuck that sucker in my computer right away and I'm burning the file to it right now, while I realized that I've got an even bigger storage device! My iAudio is 40 gigs! That's over 3 times the storage capacity of my old computer! I remember when computers were huge and still could only hold 2 or 3 megabytes of data. I remember a couple of years ago when some futurists were predicting 1-gigabyte drives to come out in the future. 5 years later, it's entirely possible to get a terabyte of memory in your computer. That's one hundred and twenty four gigabytes. I wonder what the future holds for data storage, and the next advancement in the cinema I predict (3d movies in real 3d) will take up even more space! Everything is getting so amazingly huge that to even get noticed anymore, e-mail providers have to offer upwards of a gigabyte in storage space, though few users ever acheive that amount of storage. When will it end?

Hey, could you guys pray for me this week? I've got minor knee surgery on Monday, this will hopefully clear up all the problems I've been having with it but it's still an unknown thing. We don't know if the doctors are correct, and we don't know what's going on still and they'll only find out for sure once they get a scope up in my knee to look at it, but I'll be uncouncious then. I think that they misquoted Franklin. I think he really said "Ther'es only one thing for certain in this life: death is taxes." 'Couse, I could be wrong. He could have said "Taxes are death." That doesn't sound quite as noble though, so they surely changed it. I did taxes today. I almost died, because they gave me a 40 digit ID number/code/thing and it made my brain hurt. And then explode, but just the smart cells. Duh duh duhhhhhhhhhh.

In other news, there was this shocking new development about the government conpiracy theorists that I came up with.... but I forgot 'cause of taxes so let me tell you about my dream. Last night I had a weird dream. Me and my dad were going to Carlsbad Caverns on spring break, but there was some illegal oil drilling there, the owner was just apologizing for drilling on his property without announcing it when we got there. So then everyone threw their hats up in the air and helped him construct these huge powerlines that apparently drilled oil through the power poles. Then we were at the central pole and we had a barbecue. It was fun. Flash forward three months, he had turned the central pole into an amusement park high in the air, there was a roller coaster, a log flume (on the oil) and some kind of thing where you stick the tourists in a capsule and throw them off the edge and they roll away. It was freaky, at any rate. Eventually, this lady came and asked to ride in the log flume, so we put her in it and threw her off the edge and rolled away. She came back a couple of months later and demanded another ride, but she was 368 pounds exactly. She was really sad about it, so we said if the log could support her weight she could ride. So we devised this test where she had to put her nose on the log and if it split she couldn't ride. So she balanced on one foot and put her nose on the log, and it didn't do anything, and she was like "HAH!" and then we noticed this crack in the log and she was like "UH OH!" 'cause she was really loud and then the log split in half and syrup gushed out of it and then we all laughed because it was an infinte fountain of syrup and then I woke up. Then I went back to sleep. Then we were all sitting around a campfire or something and the lady was splitting logs with her nose. Then I woke up again and got up.

Man, I just came up with the ultimate storage solution. Boxes duct taped to the wall. They'd be cardboard, so if you ever needed to get rid of some you could just make forts out of them, or burn them or something, and if you ever ran out of room on your wall you could just duct tape more boxes on top of the boxes that were already there! And then when you ran out of walls and rooms you could throw your furniture away and make new furniture out of boxes and duct tape and you could store things in them as well as sitting on them! Or.... we could just throw our trash away.

Because it's icy on the roads and because of my car's crappy tires and two wheel driveness, I had to quad to work today (you may know quad as a four-wheeler.) It was pretty fun, I got to see all the trees and the ground and the snow and everything with my one good eye. You see, it was so cold this morning that my right eye froze closed. Alright, if this was in the Off Topic board in a topic by itself, wonderful. Nice poem. Props for your mad writing skills, if you did really write it yourself. But here, in a discussion about Invader Zim, druids don't really fit. So you might have posted a poem about Invader Zim. Hooray. That would ROCK. But you didn't so you're getting your post deleted and I'm using you as an example. Tough luck. Let's recap: first mistake was spamming, second mistake was the wrong poem, third mistake was me being ticked at having random spammers assault the board. Your lucky day. Or not, depends on how you look at it. Still a nice poem though. Oh oh oh! I forgot something though! This cinches it! You're a spammer!

Sick Day

No, not a sick day for me. A sick day for the school. Yesterday we had 172 kids absent by the end of the day, today at the beginning of the day that number was down to 134. But that's out of 400 kids. If you walk through the halls, the whole place smells acidic, like too much disinfectant. Fortunately, that's exactly what it is, and all the door handles and locker dials are sticky with residue from the disinfectant wipes. I honestly don't see why they just don't cancel school, but the administration says that as long as people are alive, school will go on. But won't this sickness get us all eventually? It's a nasty thing from what I've heard. An average of 6 days, 2 days high fever, someone stuffs rabid weasels in your throat and keeps them there, basically the cold, flu, and strep all mixed together into one big unhappy disease known only as um.... well, we haven't named it yet. But it sure is nasty. But please! If you're not sick yet, wash your hands a lot and don't touch your face at all! You don't want this germ!

So today I opened up my gmail webmail checker and hey! There were three spams in it! The first two were your standard spam, but this one was um.... "special." Read it, you'll get it.

Late Thompson had in a domiciliary account with Banco Santander a certain amount totalling eight million, nine hundred and seventy-five thousand, ninety-five cents ($8,975,000.95) It would interest you to know that late Thompson had appended the name of Sheryl and yours as his next of kin and for whatever reasons late Thompson may have had to include your name as next of kin no one can question. Consequently, Sheryl Thompson's demise now leaves you as the sole beneficiary and next of kin to the said funds in the account of Late Thompson.

The rest of the e-mail was that this Mr. Thompson had died in a plane crash and had left all his money to his daughter and me. Except it's spam. So I was like "WOW!" the first time I opened the e-mail but then I remembered that the e-mail was in the spam folder and then I searched for the sender, she's a known spam sender. Fun fun fun. Well, I had 8 million dollars for a little while, at least.

Avatar Debate

This was my thoughts on the character Zuko in the show Avatar: The last airbender, which I have seen five shows of. Prepare to be er.... unwowed.

The way I see it the character of Zuko was made to be a character foil for Aang. They're both young, out on their own for one reason or another, but they have opposite personalities. When Aang would choose left, Zuko would choose right. At the initial part of the storyline Aang and Zuko were both raised in a weird environment (being "special" for some reason) and they both ran from conflict the first time it was presented to them (correct me if I'm wrong, I've seen like five shows.) But with that you have to keep in mind that they have pretty much the same motivations. Aang's trying to restore what was lost and so is Zuko (the monastery and the relationship with his dad) I don't know why, but I really relate to Zuko because he didn't want to hurt anyone, but they made him. But since they made him do it, he was hurt and so his mind was changed. So in the end he can be considered to be good or evil because his original intent was to save people, and in that he might be considered more good than Aang, who ran from conflict. But his later actions changed from good to evil. So really, he's both in my mind. A very round character.

Singing in the Shower

I was thinking the other day and I think that singing in the shower is a thing that nobody really does. I mean think about it, most people shower in the morning. They go "Uh.... ug tired, ug get clean, ug need coffee." and they don't really think about "What ug sing next?" because face it, we're tired in the morning! If you take a shower in the afternoon or evening though, singing in the shower is a fun thing to do to relax. "Yay! I've just finished singing 'I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts', what shall I sing next?" is more of the thought process then.

Recently (like yesterday) I found about the wonderful field of pixel art! I've made a couple of images, and it's really fun to do! Here's a tutorial for anyone who wants to try their hand at it, all you need is paint and imagination. Like Microsoft Paint. Shameless plug, although not for Microsoft. Anyway, take a gander!
